Genuine Vintage Wedding dress 1956

This wedding dress came to me together with the pattern from which it was made, and the magazine article from which the pattern was ordered in 1956. Modern size 8/10

The dress is unlined and is hand-finished rather than overlocked internally.

This is a beautiful dress and hangs very nicely. I have left it completely original but could replace the zips at the back with button and loops if desired and add in a lining or petticoats.

Please ask for a quote for additional work.

Genuine 1960's Vintage ribbon lace coat

This item can be accurately dated to 1966 The same fabric and very similar design of coat features in the book 'Marriage a la Mode- Three Centuries of Wedding Dresses' from The National Trust.

<Picture from 'Marriage a la mode'

I think the lace has been used more attractively for this > design with the scalloped edge creating the hem of the sleeves which are three-quarter -length. The collar also creates a more structured look and height at the neckline which is flattering.

There is no stretch to the lace and it is unlined. This coat would fit size 12 - 16 depending on how fitted you wish it to be.

Vintage Weddings- Inspiration

The woman pictured at the top of the page is my grandmother. She was a miniature portrait artist. She is pictured wearing her wedding dress which is a classic 20's early '30's style. I intend to make a replica of this dress in the near future. It appears to be pink lace. Right > is her self-portrait (actual size!) and a picture of her with my father in his pram. She was a stylish and talented lady and has been a real inspiration!

My mother was married in the '50's and her wedding dress is traditional and fashionable for the time. Hand-made by a family friend. Sweet-heart neckline, fitted bodice with full skirt and long sleeves. Made from white brocade. Worn with full-length veil.
